Elza Kephart and Patricia Gomez's 2020 Canadian horror comedy Slaxx transforms the polished language of ethical retail into a grotesque supernatural indictment. The film follows Libby McClean, a new employee at Canadian Cotton Clothiers, during the overnight launch of Super Shapers, a supposedly innovative pair of designer jeans engineered to conform to every body type. Behind the brand's organic, humanitarian image, however, lies a fictional supply chain built on sweatshop exploitation, genetically modified cotton, and an experimental Indian cotton field. The jeans become murderous: one pair tears Jemma in half, impales Hunter on a coat hook, dismembers Lord, strangles fashion influencer Peyton Jewels during a promotional shoot, and later massacres the store's staff and customers.
